Youth Fishing Program – Oak Grove Lake Park
Basic / Beginner Fresh Water Fishing program for youths ages 5 – 12 years old
GBFA is hosting a youth fishing program to interduce youths to basic recreational sport of freshwater fishing. Youths need to be between the ages to 5 – 12 yrs old and accompanied by an adult (parent or guardian). GBFA will supply the fishing poles, tackle box, and bait. GBFA will supply fishing coaches from our club to teach safety, basic knots, hooks, line, and rod techniques for the first hour or two. After the fishing class, youths are encouraged to start fishing around the lake, attended by their parent/guardian. There are various fishing platform and beaches along the lake to support fishing. Additionally, the lake is stocked every year. GBFA coaches will be available at the lake’s many platforms with bait and helpful fishing techniques. There is no rain date for this event and the event is free to youths. Adults will need a fishing license if they are fishing. A (hotdog) lunch will be provided at the first shelter by GBFA around 1 pm. Snacks and water will be provided as the youths leave for a round of fishing. We encourage parents and guardians to take picture and submit to FishGBFA@gmail.com
